Save EMS on the Mountain

Aug 7, 2025

PROTECT OUR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES IN DEER MOUNTAIN

Why We Need Your Help
Deer Mountain Fire Protection District provides life-saving EMS services to our
community-but our current funding availability is running out. EMS is paid for from the
fire department’s budget, which has drained reserves and is no longer sustainable.
Without your support, we will lose our EMS coverage on the mountain.

What’s at Stake

  • Local emergency response when minutes count.
  • DMFPD EMS staffing.
  • Local ambulance operations.
  • Risking no ambulance response from AMR or other agencies if they’re already on a
  • call.

Bottom Line:
Losing EMS means longer wait times, delayed care,
and greater risk to you and your family.

The Ask
We’re asking voters to approve a mill levy increase this November to secure funding for
EMS services.

Property Owner Cost
Approximately $47 per $100,000 of assessed property value (not market value).

Why Vote YES

  • This is a modest increase compared to other Colorado fire districts.
  • The last funding increase was in 2011 – costs have gone up since then.
  • EMS services protect our lives and our property values.
